I’m Carolyn McCurdie, a writer from Dunedin, New Zealand.
I write poetry, and am part of a small group that organises live poetry, with guest poets and an open mic once a month at Dunedin’s Circadian Rhythm Cafe in St Andrews Street. My first poetry collection ‘Bones in the Octagon’ is due to be published April 2015 by Makaro Press.
I write for children. In 2006 Longacre Press Ltd published my novel ‘The Unquiet’. It’s an adventure fantasy for 11 to 14 year olds.
I’ve written short stories and in 1998 one of these won me the Lilian Ida Smith award. The prize of $3000 enabled me to buy my first computer. Three of these were published as an e-book ‘Albatross’ in 2014 by Rosa Mira Books.
What else? Um. I call myself a gardener but I’m neglectful. My vegetable garden is small but fairly productive but my flowers, roses mostly, have to elbow their own way through the weeds. Amazingly, they do. I’m grateful. I’m also grateful to my compost heap and worms. I love worms.
